On Sunday 23rd of February the IFSA team from Otago headed out to the Taieri River for a touch of rafting and team building. The trip began with a beautiful walk along the riverside before jumping on a high speed jet boat. We jet boated a short way down the river to where we set up for a BBQ lunch. Before stuffing down the well prepared lunch we split into four teams and embarked on our first two challenges. In the first challenge the teams raced across the river and began the hunt for 6 flags hidden amongst the marsh lands on the other side. Challenge two saw a race to a buoy where each team had to flip their raft upside down, return it to its upright position, get the team back on board and race back. Undoubtedly the highlight of these two races was the Le Mans style running start. Teams paddling in opposite directions and opposition teams boarding the same rafts were amongst the chaotic scenes. After Lunch the four teams competed in a race downstream and a raft control challenge. All of this made for some hungry students so we took a stunning bus ride back up the coast road towards Dunedin and found ourselves at Filadelfio’s for a pizza dinner. Cheers for a great trip team!
