The Auckland group escaped the hustle and bustle of the big city for a weekend away in the beautiful, but smelly, ROTORUA!!! We arrived just in time for a delicious lunch before jumping on the mountain bikes and heading off into the forest. One of the instructor’s dogs came along for the ride, running along as the group made their way through the tracks. After racing through the redwoods we jumped back in the vans and headed for the gondola and luge. A few hours later, having sensibly traveled down the luge tracks (raced like the wind) and taken in the beautiful views, we headed for the accommodation for a much-needed shower and rest. The team at Multiday took us to the Fat Dog Café for dinner where we attempted to finish some of the largest burgers I have ever seen. After eating so much the moving was uncomfortable, and almost impossible for some, we headed back to the accommodation for supper, Kiwi movies and board games. The next morning we were woken up by the delicious smell of bacon and eggs! We packed up and headed off to the Kaituna river to white water raft the largest commercially rafted waterfall in the world!!! Needless to say EVERYONE LOVED IT!! A skilled photographer captured some epic action shots. After rafting we headed to Rotoruas name sake, the lake, for a kiwi style lunch of fish and chips by the water. Rotorua: Two lakes. Before heading back to Auckland we went for an explore around some boiling mud pools then jumped in the vans and headed back up to Auckland.
